View on Website Deluxe signed limited edition, one of 750 signed copies , of one of Rackham’s most famous works, with 40 mounted color plates and numerous black-and-white drawings by him. When first published in 1900, Rackham’s illustrated edition of the Grimm Brothers’ timeless fairy tales proved “immediately successful, and… marked the beginning of Rackham’s lasting fame. Two new editions were called for within 10 years,” in 1907 and the present, “best-known” edition in 1909 (Hudson, 46). The edition features additional, redrawn and re-colored illustrations, as well as enlarged pages. Rackham would later write, “In many ways I have more affection for the Grimm drawings than for other sets” (Hudson, 46). Interior clean, age-toning and soiling to vellum, as often, silk ties renewed. A very nice copy of this beautifully illustrated work.
